Getting Started

Contributing to an existing blog

Find the blog you want to contribute to in the list above, open it (click on the links to the blogs, above) and click 'add new post'.

Keep contributions relevant, and remember that your posts are visible to anyone. The blogs may be labelled as either, public, private or team only.

• 'Public' means that the news is of general interest and should appear on the front page
• 'Private' means that the post will not be posted on the front page
• 'Team Only' means that it will only appear on your blog page.

This is however only a labelling system and even team only posts may be queried from another page. We ask users not to do this, but you should be aware that the blog system is not meant for private news.

Commenting on a blog post

Don't forget the 'Discussion' link at the bottom of the page - this lets you post comments on a page, linked to the original post.

Setting up a new blog

Say you've got funding for a new project and you are setting up new wiki pages. You may want to start a new blog at the same time.

Set up a new blog by clicking here and filling in the fields. You can come back later and change stuff, but just make sure you save the page. Make yourself a link to the page.

Then start posting; click the 'add post' link on the page.

Try to get into the rhythm of posting to your blog; maybe every wednesday morning you could add something, or mails to all with important results could be mirrored here, or you might put something together sitting on the train and add it the next day. The more often you post, the more useful it will be!

Telling others about your blog

All blogs, and the most recent posts, are listed here (Main:Blogs).

• If you want to, you can share the link to this page with people.
• You could send them the link to your blog home page - follow the link to your blog in the list of blogs above.
