2008-07-24 Teleconference minutes MS:Meetings


Meeting cancelled as Sebastian and Nick were on their way to the US

Current progress:

1. Improve Contouring performance (Priority: 1) COMPLETED

2. Access control (Priority: 1)

  • Expose access control (currently implemented on the SenseWeb backend) to SensorMap frontend (Liqian), ongoing, to be deployed next week. COMPLETED
  • Implement group administration mechanisms (Liqian)
  • Modify the access control mechanism to make all sensors public while protecting their data (Liqian)

3. Integration with GSN and protected GSN (Priority: 1)

  • Investigate and fix the GSN web services (Ali), fixed, 07/05 COMPLETED
  • Make web services available (Ali) COMPLETED
  • Modify GSN to return null for non-existing sensors (Liqian: send detailed request, Ali) COMPLETED
  • Design and implement of secured ways for SensorMap to access data from GSN (Ali and Liqian) COMPLETED
  • Request the deployment team to allow atom to communicate with the new GSN instance (Liqian) COMPLETED
  • Get latlong information for the other stations (Nick) COMPLETED
  • Publish new sensors onto SensorMap (Liqian) COMPLETED
  • Inform Liqian the availability of new sensors (Nick)

4. Metadata integration and presentation (Priority: 2)

  • Add start time and end time as query parameters (Ashwin), done, 07/10 COMPLETED
  • Integration with SensorMap to show the retrieved logs on a popup window of sensor stations (Liqian)

5. Overlay of user-provided visualization (Priority: 3)

  • GSN publishes images to be overlaid on top of maps, and SensorMap pulls the images from GSN and overlays them on top of maps. Details to be discussed later. (Ali, Sebastian, Liqian)

6. Visit MS in July (http://www.swiss-experiment.ch/index.php/MS:Agenda_ideas_MSconference_July08)

  • Propose agenda for the visit (the SwissEx team) COMPLETED
  • Propose agenda for the visit (the MSR team) COMPLETED
  • Bring some visualization samples to MSR during the trip (Nicholas)

7. Maps

  • Nick made progress with SwissTopo and has a way forward, per his email July 22. WSL/SLF will host the maps for access by SensorMap. Constraints include password protection for the SwissEx group and size must not exceed 240k pixels. COMPLETED
  • Stewart to contact VE team and find out why the Swiss overhead photos do not match the resolution of Google Maps

8. Misc:

  • Implement embedded SensorMap (Liqian)
  • Implement simple visualization of sensors (Liqian)
