GIS Services

GIS services will be provided to SwissEx by the ETH Institute of Cartography.

GSN currently uses a variety of proprietary API packages such as Virtual Earth and Google Maps for it's geospatial data interface. IKA are to transfer their knowledge of GIS systems to GSN in order to provide SwissEx projects with their data in relation to a multitude of geo-information sources.

The first phase of the development implies the integration in GSN of the COGEAR test-bed (based on QGIS mapserver and Open Layers).

The final GSN-IKA interface will be based on GeoVITe, a web based cartographic tool currently in development at IKA. This tool currently forms the basis for accessing Swisstopo geospatial information (for the whole of Switzerland) as seen below.
