Hydromon

The world’s first real-time water quality monitoring system

Hydromon is a commercial partnership between vonRoll hydro, AGE SA Chiasso, Aquatech Solution and EPFL with the aim of:

  • Real-time quantitative water quality monitoring for urban supply networks
  • Hazardous substance warning system
  • Seasonal, time/space water consumption pattern modeling
  • Contamination diffusion modeling

The project concerns two primary systems:

  • Physical measurements
    • Hydrobox (Aquatec / vonRoll hydro)
  • Biosafety

BioSentry

The BioSentry works on the principles of Multi-Angle Light Scattering (MALS) (shown below), developed by John Tyndall, Lord Rayleigh, Gustav Mie, Chandrasekhara Raman, 1869-1928

Data Acquisition

The two systems above are currently sampled at 60minute intervals. They are however capable of sampling at 1min intervals. They are connected via GPRS to the database and data is queried using a similar web-based map system to that of SensorScope.
