Three 20m tall turbulence towers, and 12 automatic weather stations were deployed in a 2km square area from February 2007 - May 2007. The sites were arranged in a line travelling over a steep ridge. The ridge is covered with a 10m tall spruce plantation. The data is being used to study the variation of turbulence within and above the canopy, and how this varies over the ridge. Data from the automatic weather stations is being used to study the surface flows over the ridge. Applications include model verification, tree damage studies, forest micro-climates and wind turbine placements.
