How to cite data
To cite data found within the SwissEx data system, we recommend that you follow the IPYDIS guidelines.
An example citation would be:
Dawes N., Hiller M., Van Herwijnen A., Schirmer M., Bavay M., Lehning M. Wannengrat meteorological station data. WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research, SLF, Davos, Switzerland. Data set accessed 14-04-2012 at http://montblanc.slf.ch:22001.
Citations of publications within the wiki
One of the aims of SwissEx is to fully document the data-publications lifecycle. In order to do this, we need to capture the publications created from the data.
Two methods of citation have been created within the SwissEx wiki:
- The preferred method of direct upload allows the publication to be uploaded to the wiki whilst capturing the citation in a searchable way.
- We appreciate that some publishers may not allow papers to be uploaded to another website, hence we provide two other possibilities:
- Using the method above, you may upload your publication then protect your upload so that only your colleagues may view it.
- You may use the citation form to cite your publication. This citation will appear along with the uploaded publications in any query.
How are these citations used?
The citations are linked in to the fieldsite pages e.g. Fieldsite:Fluela. As the individual authors and institutes are also captured, the publications may also be queried according these parameters, e.g.
